Develop the knowledge and confidence needed to recognise, respond to and report child safeguarding concerns effectively.
This course is designed for people working in adult social care and provides a practical introduction to child safeguarding. Aligned to the Care Certificate standard 11, it helps learners understand their responsibilities in protecting children and young people, recognise safeguarding concerns, and take appropriate action when concerns arise.
Through interactive learning and realistic adult social care scenarios, learners will explore the principles of child safeguarding, relevant legislation, the categories and indicators of abuse, and the steps to take when they are worried about a child. The module also covers information sharing and consent, the role of young carers, legal duties relating to female genital mutilation, and factors that can place children at increased risk of abuse or neglect.
Throughout the course, you'll explore:

- safeguarding legislation and professional responsibilities
- recognising categories and indicators of abuse, neglect and exploitation
- responding appropriately to child safeguarding concerns
- the 4 Rs: recognise, respond, record and refer
- information sharing, confidentiality and consent

- identifying children who may be at increased risk of harm
- understanding how parental or carer circumstances can affect a child's wellbeing and development.
