This eLearning course is designed for people working in adult social care and provides a practical introduction to adult safeguarding. Aligned to the Care Certificate standard 10, it helps learners understand their responsibilities in protecting adults with care and support needs, and supporting people to live safely and free from abuse and neglect

Through interactive learning and realistic adult social care scenarios, learners will explore the principles of safeguarding, relevant legislation and guidance, the different types of abuse and neglect, and the signs that may indicate someone is at risk of harm. The eLearning also covers Making Safeguarding Personal, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, information sharing, consent, and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

Throughout the course, you'll explore:

  • the principles and purpose of adult safeguarding
  • safeguarding legislation, guidance and professional responsibilities
  • recognising the main categories and indicators of abuse and neglect
  • factors that can increase the risk of harm, including closed cultures and restrictive practices
  • Making Safeguarding Personal and person-centred approaches to safeguarding
  • the Mental Capacity Act 2005, including consent and capacity
  • responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
  • recording, reporting and escalating concerns
  • information sharing and confidentiality.
